Welcome Tin-tin!
Welcome to the world Quinton Russell! We are so happy to have you here (overwhelmed too!). He arrived pretty quickly on Saturday Nov 17th, a whopping 9 pounds and 21 inches. We are all doing well, and Beckett is trying to figure out who this little baby is! Beckett has perfected his brothers name now - but referred to him lovingly as 'Tin-Tin' for the first week...

Pumpkin Patch
I must admit, Beckett and I had much more fun this year at the pumpkin patch compared to last. Not only did Dad join us, but since he was actually walking well this year I didn't have to balance a muddy baby who would constantly fill his little hands and mouth with dirt, and a 'too-big-what-was-I-thinking' pumpkin around the patch.
He is still talking about the tractors, the goats, and the little train ride (which really was quite scary for him when he was on it - but he realized was the coolest thing as soon as he escaped).

Tool crazed
Beckett is obsessed with fixing and cleaning things. His new passion is a drill with all the different bits.... I think he can already identify more tools than I can. I'm glad he enjoys wearing the safety gear while using them - as it might provide some protection when he goes after our cats (poor Bandit... apparently he needs the most "fixing").

Sand in the City
Downtown Oly was covered in sand for the weekend, and we had a good day digging for treasures, blowing bubbles and listening to just about the most un-kid friendly live music I have ever heard at an obviously child crazed event.... I'm glad Beckett didn't pick up on the lyrics (I think Cash's 'Ring of Fire' was the happiest song in his rep).

Aloha!
Aloha from Hawaii! The Coffee's are celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary, so we all wanted in on the fun and flew to the big island for almost 2 weeks. We stayed in Waimea for the first week, in a little cottage on a horse farm. It was very quaint but the size of the kitchen and the weather (think Seattle - grey and rainy!) gave us a wonderful excuse to explore a good portion of the island! The last week we joined the family and stayed in Kona. What a fabulous house, wonderful views, and great dinners.... we were all very spoiled. Highlights of the trip, at least for me, was the manta ray night snorkel (very surreal), the wonderful hikes up north and relaxing by the pool finishing a novel (what a luxury). Can't wait to plan the next trip back... and next time I'm diving....

Adult only weekend
Well, we really should have done it sooner, but we finally took our first weekend alone, without sir Beckett. He was in wonderful hands with my mom, and I don't even think he noticed we left!
We went to a conference in Sedona AZ for the weekend, with Jeff's company Environ, and enjoyed the time by the pools and fancy diners out.... just wonderful.

Words
Thought I'd record Beckett's first vocabulary - - he really understands a lot of our conversations and will listen to everything you say, so we have to be more careful now. Granted, usually I'm the only one that can tell his words apart from each other, these are the words he is using pretty consistently (but never on cue): mama, dada, fish, puppy, kitty, moo (working on cow still), howls (for a wolf), baby, button, ballon, bird, ball, bye bye, hi, juice, bottle, shoes, car, bath... and I know eventually I will not be able to list them. Such an amazing process to watch him absorb so much each day.

Tupperware, not just for storage
Beckett loves his tupperware drawer, and is developing a good sense of humor - the combination resulted in a astro-beckett adventure around the living room (I think he likes the little echo it makes). He tried unsuccessfully to get mom and dad to wear equally cool hats, but sadly, we need bigger tupperware bowls.

Happy Easter
We were blessed to have family and friends come visit us over the holiday. Beckett was not quite sure what to make of the egg hunt, but he soon found out that since there were little treats hidden in the eggs, they were worth putting up with the adults and their cheering. It was great to see Tammy and the girls and Peter and Carolyn. The day just went by too quickly.

We need SUN!
Well, we just can't take it anymore - we miss grandpa and grandma, and we miss the sun! Beckett and I flew down to Palm Springs for a long week of playing in the pool, trying golf, visiting family, and getting a little vitamin D. It was great to see Dad before he left for Yemen again. We miss you grandpa - have a safe trip!
