Goldfish

Caught! I knew Beckett couldn't eat those goldfish that quickly.... I caught him feeding his new favorite buddy, Bandit.
What an amazing child he is. We have been practicing sign language with him for the past couple of months. Usually he just kinda looks at me, smiles and thinks I'm silly - but now he is using them himself! His first signal is "all done". It's so fun to watch him experimenting with language as well - he is really trying hard to imitate our words. He has added "a ba" for "a bath" and "oof oof" for dog. What a little genius :)

Swim Class

Beckett has been taking swim classes for about 3 weeks now. This week he went with Mom (rather than his normal swim partner, Dad, who was traveling this week) and sadly, class was moved to the bigger much colder pool (apparently some kid threw-up in the smaller 85 degree kiddie pool). Beckett did not even seem to notice, but I just need one cold pool class to be convinced that this is a "daddy and me" activity while I hang out in the jacuzzi watching.

Beckett usually watches in amazement at the big kids jumping in and out of the pool and has a particular interest in one life guard (he flirts with her the whole time) - but when we can get his attention he is a pretty good floater and seems to enjoy the water. We are still working on his "motorboat" and doggie paddle - - but it's good to have goals!

Coffee Chat

Beckett and I had a wonderful visit with cousin Carolyn this afternoon. Beckett was gracious enough to let us talk (and we can talk!) and sip coffee while he found some new toys to play with. He was a big fan of the fire engine and less of the dress-up clothes...

Afterwards we headed out to the much needed sunshine to a local park - and Beckett had his first swing!

Hear us blog

Welcome to the beginning of our blog. We just figured out how to do this (yeah!)... mastering our ipod is next, wish us luck. We are all feeling a bit older and more settled as the new year begins. Our little Beckett celebrated his first birthday and Olympia is feeling more and more like home now that we have gone through a full cycle of the seasons.

This week was a busy one. Jeff has been busy setting up a new office for Environ. Our little cabin will be the Washington headquarters for the time-being - and it is nice to be able to see more of him now that his commute involves putting on hard-soled slippers for the big 30 foot trek to the adjacent office space. Beckett and I went to the zoo this week and rode a carousel for the first time. It was a bit overwhelming but the lights and organ music were entertaining. His favorite animals were the reindeer and the fishes (dad is so proud).

Let it Snow!

I just can't believe how much snow we have in Olympia - and it's been on the ground for 2 weeks! Our cabin is nice a toasty and the roads are pretty clear, so actually I prefer this to the rain.

Beckett is getting around so much better this snow storm then in December so, we went outside to enjoy it. He liked to pat it down and taste it (although, truth be told, this is what he does with everything).

First Haircut

Ok - I was kinda a mad woman with the camera during his firsthaircut.... but he was just so funny about the hairdryer, electric razor etc. The kid salon had such a variety of attention distractors, including videos, music, the fire engine bell.... but he really didn't seem to mind all the attention. He looks like such a big boy now!! Hope everyone had a wonderful New Years.

Happy New Year

Happy Holidays Everyone!
It has been wonderful to see family and friends over the last couple of weeks - and we are excited to see more of you in the year to come. I can't believe we have a one-year-old in the house! How this past year has changed our lives.... We wish all of you a happy, healthy and peaceful 2007.
